Allegiant Airlines Book a Flight for Infants and Children

Going on a trip with family and children is a great feeling. Various airlines provide you the opportunity to travel with your babies and so does Allegiant Airlines. Allegiant Air offers free lap flights for infants and babies under 2 years old (less than 24 months). To make a reservation for them, visit Allegiant Airlines website: AllegiantAir.com. Then, you must add them to your reservation by choosing "Infant on Lap" under the number of passengers. Keep in mind only one infant may ride on a lap per adult passenger. Otherwise, they must fly in their own designated seat as an "Infant in Seat." Also, your child can't use a car seat while riding on your lap. They should sit in their own designated seat to use a car seat during the flight.

Age Verification for Allegiant Airline tickets:

For your child to fly on your lap as an infant, Allegiant Air will require proof of age. Your child must be under 24 months old on the date of the flight following FAA regulations. If they are above that age, they must fly in their own designated seat as a regular-ticketed passenger. Bring government-issued picture identification with a birthdate, such as a birth certificate for passengers under the age of 18.

 Using a Car Seat

Children under 40 lbs. should travel in a car seat that has received official approval. This is following both the FAA and Allegiant Air. Your infant needs a separate, paid-for ticket with a designated seat to travel in a car seat. Babies under 2 years old and young infants can travel on their parent's lap. But you can't bring a car seat into the cabin. To be approved by the FAA for use on an airplane, a car seat must have the government's safety certification.

Bringing a Diaper Bag into the Cabin

When traveling with a child, Allegiant Air does permit you to bring a free diaper bag into the cabin. This is despite their strict carry-on baggage policies. Bring the diaper bag on board for free in addition to your regular carry-on luggage allowance. Note: it will not count as either your carry-on luggage or your item.

How about flying with Toddlers and children?

You might want to make sure your family is sitting together when you are traveling with kids. However, there is no guarantee for the availability of seats together for the entire family. But the airline will take all major efforts to accommodate families. There will be at least one adult flying with a child under the age of 14 in the same seat. Additionally, you can reserve seats for a small fee by logging into your MyAllegiant account. This is valid while making your reservation or at any time up until the time you check-in. Due to FAA safety regulations, families with children may not be able to sit in the exit row.

 Pro-tip to follow:

The only way to ensure that your family will sit together is to pay for seat selection. This way, you may choose your seats when making your Allegiant Airlines booking
